The first thing to know about your natural beauty is that
God is already pleased with the way He made you (Genesis 7:31) so embrace
yourself with love for how beautiful He has made you. Secondly if we take care
of our spiritual needs God begins to work with us from inside out helping us to
nurture that beauty He made us to be. Everything begins and ends with God that’s
what the scripture says in Hebrews 12:2 …..He is the author and finisher of our
faith. Our faith is what makes us believers of Jesus Christ and I like to think
that it is what keeps us going. So in other words, our faith is our lives therefore
the scripture applies.
Some of us might be a bit ashamed of our afro kinky curly
hair but to be honest, I believe that the African Kinky hair is unique in so
many ways. First of all, the African hair texture is strong which represents
the strength of the average African. Secondly our hair grows upwards and I like
the way Dr. Kari Williams put it “..it spirals towards heavens, keeping us
connected to our creator”. Something else she said that struck me is that “ …the
way our hair defies gravity reminds us of the power that we truly possess to
defy opposition and the pressures of society”.
Here are a couple of other scriptures that talk about how
God sees us:
Song of Solomon 4:7 You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in
you.
Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very
well.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his
appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For
the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Proverbs 3:15 She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire
can compare with her.
Psalm 34:5 Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall
never be ashamed.
Matthew 6:28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies
of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared
beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Ezekiel 16:14 And your renown went forth among the nations because of
your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on
you, declares the Lord God.
Psalm 139:13 For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in
my mother's womb.
Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our
likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the
birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over
every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
What do you think about these scriptures? Do you know about
other scriptures that talk about inner beauty? Please comment and critic the
